I’m such an advocate for being kind. I think it is so important because you have no idea what is going on in other peoples world. I work at a gym and I’m constantly trying to live this out daily there above all places because I know it’s not easy for everyone to come through those doors. I find myself going out of my way to make people feel at ease and motivated while they are there. So I was really shocked when it completely blew up in my face.
I used to be overweight. Now I’m not saying I was obese but I had enough extra baby fat to get picked on quite a bit throughout my adolescence. Then when I went off to college I gained the cliche’ freshman 15…or freshman 30 (that’s a thing right? lol). Finally I had enough and I decided I was going to do something about it. I lived at the gym, changed my diet and transformed not only my body but my life. It was the hardest and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I lost a total of 45 pounds, take that freshman 30! My point is that I understand because I’ve been there.
The other day at the gym I overheard an overweight woman complaining about her weight and how she would never lose those extra pounds. I chimed in telling her that if she stuck to it she would get there, she could do it!! I was totally taken back when she told me that I couldn’t possibly understand along with any other fit person in the gym and basically that my skinny butt could go on my way.
It’s really been on my heart since then to share my before picture with you all. NEVER in a million years would I have imagined that I would be showing this to the world but here I am. I want to prove a point that people of all shapes and sizes need to have more kindness and understanding. That woman had no idea about my past and yet completely pre judged me. You have no idea where people are on there journey and judging someone else doesn’t make you any skinner or prettier. We’re all in this together. Lets impact each other positively instead of bringing each other down. Kindness is free y’all, so lets spread it around.
P.S. If I can do this so can you. If you don’t like something in your life YOU have the power to change it. This is your sign. I’m rooting for you!
