Y’all! I can’t believe this year Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby are on the same day! What a weekend! There are so many great events going on in Houston, if you are looking for plans I recommend watching the Derby at one of my favorite spots, Bosscat (4310 Westheimer Rd).
Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, which has more than 300 whiskeys in it’s signature glass-enclosed Whiskey Room, will transform it’s front patio into The Maker’s Mark Mint Julep Bar for the 2018 Kentucky Derby. The temporary bar led by Bosscat Bar Director Matt Sharp, will offer two types of Mint Juleps for guests, traditional and hibiscus. With the purchase of a Mint Julep, guests keep the julep mug and receive a wristband that is designated to a certain horse. If your horse wins the race, you receive 1 complimentary drink from Maker’s Mark. How Fun!

Ingredients-
.25oz simple syrup
2oz Kentucky Bourbon (makers mark)
6-7 mint leaves
Crushed ice
Instructions-
Combine mint & syrup in glass or julep mug
And lightly muddle
Add bourbon and fill cup half way full with ice
Stir till cold
Fill cup full with ice
Garnish with mint sprig
