Back again, talking about dolla’ dolla’ bills! I’ve given y’all some suggestions of third party agencies to use when trying to get brand collabs (If you are new here, a brand collab is a partnership with any company in which you post on your blog or social sites in exchange for money or product). But what if the brands you love aren’t on the agencies or you aren’t getting selected for campaigns? Well, you can try to get the brands attention and/or pitch yourself to them. Here are some way you can try to catch the eye of your favorite brands.
- Post the Brand- If you love a certain brand of hairspray, start posting it. Create a fun and unique tutorial using that product, etc. A lot of people think that just because a company has a lot of followers, they won’t notice this kind of stuff but trust me, they do!
- Get “Social”- Follow the brand, like, comment, ENGAGE! I always notice who consistently likes and comments on my posts. Brands you are trying to work with will too.
- Events- When I first started blogging, I attended EVERY event I was invited to. Now that I have a lot of PR and media contacts, I’m more selective. But, I think this is really great when you are first starting out. You never know who you will meet at an event. Like everything in life, it’s all about who you know. So network!
- Contact Info- You don’t want to pitch the wrong person or a general email that no one is actually going to see. Do your research, look up the company on LinkedIn, etc. You’ll wanna search the marketing for a specific brand and get in contact with the right person.
- Add Value- You’ve hunted the right person down, now what? Well, you need to ask yourself, what value are you adding to this brand? Do you have a ton of followers? Lead with how large your reach is. If you are a micro-influencer (typically anyone with less than 10,000 followers), then ask what YOU can bring to the brand instead. Are you a great photographer? Sell yourself on your social platform yes, but lead with the beautiful content you can create that the brand can use on its social channels too. These brands get hit up all the time, so make sure you are bringing something to the table.
- Make A Media Kit- Most companies will ask for this anyway so, it’s best to send it over with your initial email. Your media kit should break down your brand, following, demographic, social stats, etc. I bought my first media kit in a template off etsy. All I had to do was fill in the blanks, so easy!
Protip: Don’t DM brands your pitches, DM the brand if you want to tell them how much you love the product, their latest insta story, etc. but you are a business so act according and send over a professional email, trust me.
Til next time my blogger babes!
